MANILA, Philippines - The Master Class in Event Management at the De La Salle–College of St. Benilde held last May 27-28, 2010 became the backdrop of a reunion between the mentor and his protégé – the world’s foremost authority in event management Dr. Joe Goldblatt, CSEP and Cynthia Reantaso-Bernabe.
Dr. Goldblatt was the program director of the award-winning Event Leadership Certificate Program at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA where Bernabe holds the distinction of being its first international graduate.
Dr. Goldblatt, who founded the International Special Events Society (ISES), is the founder of the first Event Management program in higher education and is credited with developing the research, instruction, and other extra-curricular elements that have given birth to this modern profession. He is also the author of the first textbook in the field of Event Management.
Bernabe is now the program director of the first and only diploma program in Professional Event Management in the Philippines that is currently being offered at the School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPaCE) at De La Salle–College of St. Benilde. She has been a facilitator in the last five years.
Having been an event professional for over 20 years, Bernabe had the burning desire to provide an educational opportunity to event professionals who wish to learn more about trends and forces to produce greater outcomes for events. Thus, the invitation to his mentor Dr. Goldblatt, who is now the executive director of the International Centre for the Study of Planned Events at the Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland, to conduct a Master Class in the Philippines.
Industry leaders and practitioners from the Tourism, Convention, Hospitality, Exhibition and Event Industry as well as the Academe were present at this exclusive and rare opportunity to learn from the event management guru himself.
Again, event professionals will have the chance to learn more about Special Events, Risk Management and Event Evaluation at the School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPaCE) in De La Salle–College of St. Benilde. The course which will be facilitated by Cynthia provides participants an insight on how event management is done on a global perspective.
