Hitachi Global donates hi-tech lab to CSU
MANILA, Philippines - A hi-tech robotics and metrology laboratory donated by Japanese information technology hardware giant Hitachi Global Storage Technologies has been unveiled at the Caraga State University (CSU) in Butuan City.
Dr. Nona Ricafort, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) commissioner and chairman of the CSU board of regents, said that the new state-of-the-art laboratory would hopefully encourage students of the university to pursue robotics studies on engineering and science and technology fields. She said that it was fortunate for the CSU to host the robotics and metrology laboratory for the Caraga region.
The facility is the third of the seven regional laboratories being established by Hitachi GST in the Philippines, along with three laboratories in private institutions around the country.
It contains state-of-the-art Metrology and Robotics equipment designed to enhance the training of students and faculty in advanced technologies which are much needed skills in local and international electronics companies.
Leading the inauguration and launch of the laboratory were Ricafort, CSU president Dr. Joanna Cuenca. Hitachi GST Phils. president and site manager Chandramogan Anamirtham, Hitachi GST director of prototype John Herber, and HR director Gil Paolo de Guzman, meanwhile represented Hitachi GST in a whole day affair held around the sprawling CSU campus in Barangay Ampayon, Butuan City recently.
“To date, Hitachi GST has already donated multi-million US dollars worth of state-of-the-art equipment to 10 universities across the country. We acknowledge the commitment of Hitachi Philippines to continuously support our faculty members and students which will eventually contribute to the advancement of engineering competence and consequently contribute to the Philippine educational advancement,” Ricafort said.
