Lapus is new MDC chairman

MANILA, Philippines - Former Education Secretary Jesli Lapus has been elected as Manila Doctors College’s (MDC) chairman of the board of trustees effective Aug. 1, 2010. With a solid track record as a professional executive in the private sector behind him, Lapus has served with distinction in the cabinets of three Presidents. The elected board of trustees for 2010-2011 is composed of: Dr. George SK Ty, Dr. Jesli Lapus, Mary Ty, Aniceto Sobrepeña, Mary Jane Abacan, Theresita Turla, Anna Sobrepeña, and Dr. Dante Morales. The board of advisers include: Dr. Sergio Cao, Elvira Ong Chan, Miguel G. Belmonte, Ambassador Josue Villa, Dr. Gloria Salandanan, and Atty. Ruben Torres.

The Manila Doctors College is the educational arm of the Metrobank Group of Companies. Over the years, the College has established a standard of academic excellence in nursing education, consistently being in the top five percent of the 400+ nursing schools in the country based on the results of the Nursing Licensure Exam (NLE). Last May 2010, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) pronounced MDC as top 3 among the nursing schools in the country with more than 1,000 examinees during the 2009 NLE. MDC also offers BS Psychology, BS Holistic Nutrition with Culinary Arts, BS Hotel and Restaurant Management, BS Information Technology, and short courses in culinary arts and caregiving. In 2011, MDC will open its BS Accountancy, BS Entrepreneurship, BS Business Administration programs.
