Unilab calls on youth to create positive change

MANILA, Philippines - Innovative ideas have the power to impact positive change in the world. History has shown that such ingenuity can be positively contagious and can come from anyone, especially the Filipino youth. Unilab has launched Ideas Positive: The Unilab Youth Camp for Change — an idea-generation camp and competition for college students that aims to inspire fresh, developmental, and research-based social marketing initiatives that promote and advance health and wellness at the community level.

“As our corporate philosophy, Bayanihan is the guiding force that has enabled Unilab to become the leading pharmaceutical company in the country today. This same strength of Bayanihan to draw forth the finest qualities of every individual and combine them into something powerful enough to change lives is something that we’d like to extend outside Unilab through Ideas Positive. We hope the youth can work hand-in-hand with Unilab, in true Bayanihan spirit, towards a healthier and livelier Philippines,” explained Unilab corporate affairs director Alberto Manlapit. Ideas Positive is open to all college students in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Bulacan, and Pampanga. Interested parties must form groups of five to seven members and submit their social marketing ideas, in the form of a sustainable plan, to address the health and wellness concerns of their chosen community. Deadline for submission of entries is on Aug. 16, 2010. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a seed money of P100,000 to implement the team’s community health project, plus trophy for their school, and a 3-day, 2-night group vacation package to Boracay. The 2nd and 3rd Prize Winners will also receive seed money of P50,000 each for their chosen communities, an Ideas Positive Winners’ trophy for their school, and an iPod shuffle for each member of the team.
