105 SM scholars graduate from schools nationwide

MANILA, Philippines - Of the 105 SM graduates of schoolyear 2009-2010, 48 graduated with honors from different partner schools nationwide, led by Ellen Grace Ablanque, summa cum laude graduate from the University of Negros Occidental Recoletos, Bacolod (Bachelor of Science in Accountancy) and Rizaly Lim, summa cum laude from the University of Perpetual Help, Binan (Bachelor of Science in Accountancy). The magna cum laude graduates are: Camille Rodrigueza, Marie Joy Lagda, Sean James Camello, John Carlo Avila, Rachelle Masilungan, Camille Magdaong, Lorie Ann Aguilar, Daisie Mae Borja, Neslie Vic Bibara, Abigail dela Paz, Stephanie Pacete, Jessa Prieto and Arvin Fernandez while Ericson Cabrera, Doelly Joy Benavente, Monavie Ariem, Danilo Si, Charengin Francisco, Jessica Lacson, Allan Tolentino, Rosella Ann Reynon, Angelo Lomboy, Gievin Armada, Bianca Castillo, Zeus Brondial, Joshua Angelo Martizano, Jayson Sedano, Jet Rico Banas, Violy Basilio, Patrick Joseph Cardenas, Sheila Demafeliz, Johson Exebia, Daisy Bequillo, Evelyn Mercado, Bea Mae Jolito, Jhonalyn Mea, Lianne Mariz Veluz Diana Marie Samaco, Glendale Niadas, Edwin Tolentino, Aivy Verano and Darmae Maningo all graduated Cum Laude. Eric Misahon, Dan-Daryly Abe, Nina Reulyn Morales and Elenito Ian Altiche graduated with academic distinction.

This 14th batch of graduates brings to 1,180 the number of graduates since the scholarship program began in 1983.

Yesterday, May 12, the Sy family led by Henry Sy Sr., chairman of the board of trustees, together with Felicidad Sy and the entire Sy family honored the graduates together with their parents with a testimonial dinner at the SMX Convention Center. Robert Kuan, chairman of the board of trustees of St. Luke’s Medical Center and member of the board of directors of Far Eastern University (FEU), DeLa Salle Professional School, Brent Int’l School in Subic and chair of the Brent Int’l School in Manila and Baguio has been invited to give an inspirational talk to the graduates at this traditional presentation of scholars. Invited to the dinner were the Foundation board members together with officials of the SM Group of Companies, members of the academe and other partners in the scholarship program of the Foundation.

The education advocacy of the SM Foundation supports 900 college scholars at any given time enrolled in universities and colleges nationwide. Aside from the scholars taking Bachelor degrees in the fields of engineering, accountancy, education and information technology, SM Foundation likewise supports scholars at the Punlaan School and the Don Bosco Technical School.
