MTG wards top 2010 Metrobank math challenge

MANILA, Philippines - The Mathematics Trainers Guild (MTG) Philippines hailed their long-time wards who harvested the top prizes in the prestigious Metrobank Foundation-sponsored math competition last week. Dr. Simon Chua, MTG Philippines president, said that the triumph of “MTG kids” Immanuel Encarnacion, a 4th year at the Philippine Science High School and John Thomas Chuatak, a grade 6 student at St. Stephen’s High School in Sta. Cruz, Manila, who both won 1st place in the 2010 Metrobank, MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge was a source of great pride and fulfillment for their group. The 1st place winners in the team competitions namely Ma. Czarina Angela Lao and Austin Edrich Chua of St. Jude Catholic School-Manila, who won first place in the grade 6 level; Aldric Cristoval Reyes and Aibeemae Cua of Chiang Kai Shek College, who were first place in the high school level competitions, are also MTG wards, who have underwent training by the group for participation in international math olympiads.
