Metrobank names Math Challenge finalists

MANILA, Philippines - The Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) together with the Department of Education (DeEd) and the Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) announced the schools which qualified in the upcoming national finals of the 2010 Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge or MMC. The national finals will be held on March 27, 2010 at the Metrobank Plaza, in Makati City.

“We congratulate all the schools for making it this far in the competition. Indeed, this is an empowering journey for our young participants as they hone their mathematical skills and enhance their abilities to overcome challenges,” said MBFI president Aniceto “Chito” Sobrepeña. .

Competing for the Grade 6 individual category are: Saint Jude Catholic School, St. Stephen’s High School (Manila); Quiling Elementary School (Batac City); Colegio de San Agustin (Biñan, Laguna); Goa Central School (Camarines Sur); Education & Training Center School II (Bacolod); Zamboanga Chong Hua High School; Fatima College of Camiguin ; and Norala Central Elementary School (South Cotabato).

For the Grade 6 Team category: Saint Jude Catholic School, St. Stephen’s High School (Manila); BHC Educational Institution, Inc. (La Union); Tuguegarao West Central Elementary School; Colegio de San Agustin (Biñan, Laguna); Goa Central School (Camarines Sur); Lapu-Lapu City Central Elementary School; City Central School (Cagayan de Oro City); Ateneo de Davao University-Grade School; and Albert Einstein School (Cotabato City).

For the fourth year individual category: Ramon Magsaysay High (Cubao) School; Philippine Science High School (Quezon City); Regional Science High School-Cagayan Valley Campus (Isabela); Tarlac National High School; De La Salle Lipa; Bicol Regional Science High School (Ligao City); Trinity Christian School (Bacolod City); Bethany Christian School (Cebu City); Zamboanga Chong Hua High School; and General Santos Hope Christian School.

For the fourth year team category: Gideon Academy (Pasay City); Chiang Kai Shek College (Manila); Baguio City Na- tional High School; Cauayan National High School (Isabela); Mariano Ponce National High School (Baliwag, Bulacan); San Pablo City Science High School (Laguna); Philippine Science High School-Western Visayas Campus (Iloilo City); Mandaue City Science High School; Zamboanga Chong Hua High School; and Oro Christian Grace School (Cagayan de Oro City).
