Xavier head Most Outstanding Chinese School Administrator

-

MANILA, Philippines - Xavier School director Fr. Johnny Go, SJ, was selected this year’s recipient of the Cebu Anonymous Most Outstanding Chinese School Administrator Award. He will be honored on March 6,2010, 3:00 p.m., at the Federation of Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Manila.

Go was cited for his excellence in the areas of 1) Chinese language promotion, 2) leadership and administration, and 3) self-development and formation of others. The award comes with a P300,000 cash prize which Go is donating to the Xavier School Educational and Trust Fund (XSETF), for the school’s Grant-in-Aid scholarship program.

Alongside Go, 14 model Chinese teachers will also be honored. This recognition seeks to honor and reward the exemplary work of teachers and administrators from Chinese-Filipino schools all over the country. It was initiated by an anonymous philanthropist from Cebu to advance the development of Chinese language education. After his death, the benefactor was revealed to be Mr. Shih Wei Peng. Now on its 10th year, this annual search is conducted with the help of the Philippine Chinese Education Research Center.
