Education UK jumpstarts excitement among Filipino students

MANILA, Philippines - The excitement for new educational opportunities abroad officially began as students and post-graduates filled up the Makati Room of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel to attend British Council’s UK Alumni Counseling Session, the first of a series of activities specially designed for students interested in pursuing education in the United Kingdom.

Students from all over the country flocked to the UK Alumni Counseling Session for unique one-on-one discussions with Filipino alumni from more than 20 top universities in the UK, including Oxford University and Cambridge University. The event was also graced by United Kingdom’s Ambassador to the Philippines Stephen Lillie, accompanied by Amanda Burrell, country director for British Council.

“The UK Alumni Counselling Session is one of the ways we strive to bring the educational opportunities in the UK closer to Filipino students,” said Burrell.

On March 5-6, 2010, students will have the opportunity to speak directly to UK universities themselves during the 12th UK Education Exhibition at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel.

Admission is free. For more information, log on to www.britishcouncil.org.ph.
