Southville global education network names new executives

-

MANILA, Philippines - A global marketplace demands an internationally competent workforce.

Responding to the challenge, the first organized group of four transnational educational institutions forged the Southville Global Education Network (SGEN). SGEN’s transnational members are Southville Foreign University, Southville International School and Colleges, and Stonyhurst Southville International School, in Batangas City and in Lipa. Taken as a whole, SGEN has collective international accreditations from EdExcel (UK), Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (Australia)), Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC - USA), Republic Act 9493 (Phils), and ISO Certification that benefit all of its individual parts. SGEN also manages two other nationally accredited schools, namely, South Mansfield College and the SEED Academy, and very soon, South SEED LPDH, in partnership with the Las Piñas Doctors Hospital.

Southville’s path towards its transnational vision begins with a first-rate choice of leaders who can deliver on the global stage, as they have to excel in both the industrial world and the academic world where they continue to serve.

Peter Laurel – chairman of SGENA graduate of the London School of Economics and grandson of the late President Jose P. Laurel, Peter Laurel brings to SGEN his many years of experience in industry with such multinationals as Shell, SGV and Procter & Gamble. Laurel is concurrently the president of Lyceum University of Batangas and chairman of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC).

Rodolfo Ibañez, Ph.D. – vice chairman of SGENA Ph.D. degree holder from the Washington International University, he brings to SGEN his career-long expertise in marketing and operations as executive vice president of Unilab, as well as his most recent 8-year experience in educational administration as president of Southville Foreign University (SFU, a member of SGEN).

Genevieve Ledesma-Tan, Ph.D. – president of Southville Foreign University (SFU), founder of Southville International School and Colleges and author and publisher of several books (the newest of which is the “Outstanding Filipino Achievers”, which will be launched today at Fully-Booked in Fort Bonifacio Global City). Armed with a degree in “Education in the 21st Century” from Harvard, and credentials from the University of the Philippines, De la Salle and Silliman University, Dr. Tan once again takes up the chief executive role, this time in the more complex landscape of a University.

Ma. Theresita Yague – vice president for SGEN Allied Schools: Stonyhurst Southville International School (SSIS) and South Mansfield College (SMC). Currently a Ph.D. candidate for Educational Administration, she brings to SGEN her solid academic foundation from the University of the Philippines and De la Salle, as well as her comprehensive experience as the former principal of Southville International School and Colleges, in taking on this challenging role as VP for three campuses; Stonyhurst Southville International School both in Batangas and Lipa, and South Mansfield College in Muntinlupa.

Marjorie Gutierrez-Tangog – vice president for Academics and Academic Research and high school principal of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC). A cum laude from the University of the Philippines, she also an author of English textbooks, Ph.D. candidate for Educational Administration and Masters Degree holder in English as a Second Language, has been promoted to head the overall academic affairs of SISC and concurrently take on the position as school division principal.
