Lecture caravan on best teaching practices set

MANILA, Philippines - In celebration of Teachers’ Month, the Metro-bank Foundation Network of Outstanding Teachers and Educators (NOTED) will hold a lecture caravan on best teaching practices on Oct. 10, 2009, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., at the University of Makati, Makati City. Expected to attend are elementary, secondary, special education, and college teachers from Makati City. This is in coordination with the DepEd Division of Makati City and the College of Education of the University of Makati.

The lecture caravan aims to provide a venue for sharing best practices in teaching. Lectures will be discussed by a pool of speakers from among the awardees of the Metrobank Foundation Search for Outstanding Teachers or SOT. Plenary speakers in the morning are: Prof. Ambeth Ocampo (2006 SOT awardee), who will discuss on the topic “Rizal: The Hero as a Teacher” and Dr. Teresita Pedrajas, 1999 Outstanding Teacher, who will discuss “The Learner in the Limelight.” In the afternoon, concurrent sessions will be held. Topics include: “Making a Nation of Readers”, “Caring for the Special Children”, “Bridges to Readings”, “Sibika, Kultura, at Araling Panlipunan”, “Technology and Math”, and the “Magical World of Science”.

NOTED is an honor society of Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Teachers committed to nurturing a culture of excellence and service among educators through professional development, publications, research, and advocacy in active partnership with government and non-government organizations.

The Foundation also has a grants program that assists NGOs and government in the fields of education, healthcare, and the arts.
