A first-hand experience with Science

MANILA, Philippines - A lot of students think that Science is intimidating and difficult.

“We want to change the mentality of students who think that Science is a boring and complicated subject. Through the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center, we want them to experience that Science can be learned in fun ways,” says Joseph Eugene David, Nestle Philippines, Inc. (NPI) business executive manager for Dairy, Health & Nutrition Solutions Business Unit.

To further this advocacy, Nido Fortified launched the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center at the SM Mall of Asia to encourage experiential learning through discovery, exploration, and interaction. With its 3,000-sqm facility consisting of nine walk-through galleries, it helps students stimulate their curiosity in Science.

Provides fun ways to learn Science concepts

For a more fun and engaging way of studying astronomy and space concepts, the Center has the Digistar Planetarium. This 15-meter facility lets students watch and understand the Science behind stars, planets, and other celestial objects.

The Center also teaches students different functions and processes of the body with its Grossology gallery.

Raises awareness

The galleries Virtual Reef and Spaceship Earth help children become aware of the things that happen in their environment. In Virtual Reef, students are taught about Philippine coral reefs and marine life and encouraged to partake in the conservation of our reefs.

Spaceship Earth, meanwhile, lectures on the current condition of the planet Earth. It inspires students to find ways to preserve the environment and alleviate the effects of global warming.

Helps develop skills

The Center is also a venue for the youth to learn and develop new skills. In LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Center, kids are taught basic concepts on robotics such as building and programming.

Teaches the latest technology

The Center also aims to teach students the latest technologies used in different industries. In Life Clock, students are allowed to know the happenings inside the Center via its four large graphic panels.

The gallery’s second level features The Time Capsule-a computer console that lets guests send e-mail messages to the future.

The Center also has galleries where students can learn about the latest architectural wonders, experience the newest trends in digital information and computer graphics, and study about the history and the latest technology in photography.

The Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center is definitely a great venue for students to realize the value of Science.
