No tuition increase for 2009-2010 - UP
MANILA, Philippines - Upon the recommendation of UP president Emerlinda Roman and the chancellors of UP’s constituent universities, the UP Board of Regents in its 1241st meeting, last Feb. 27 February in UP Mindanao campus in Davao, decided not to increase undergraduate tuition for academic year 2009-2010.
Roman’s recommendation to hold undergraduate tuition increase was in consideration of the current economic crisis. Meanwhile, a committee created by Dr. Roman to review the current Socialized Tuition and Financial Assistance Program (STFAP) income ranges and brackets has submitted its final report, now being studied by UP’s constituent universities.
The University of the Philippines, the country’s National University, is a university system composed of seven constituent universities, each headed by its own chancellor, and spread out in nine campuses all over the country as well as in cyberspace.
