Smart joins 1st Cavite Division ICT Conference

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Seventy public high school principals listen to Steph Orlino of Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART) as she presents the Smart Schools Program during the 1st Cavite Division Conference of Secondary Schools on ICT.

The Smart Schools Program is a community service initiative of Smart that promotes Information and Communications Technology in basic education through partnerships with public schools, its officials and parents-teachers-community associations (PTCAs).

Smart currently has three Smart Schools Program partners in Cavite: Maragondon National High School, Cavite National Science High School and Congressional National High School. They are among the 240 public schools nationwide currently enjoying Internet connectivity through the PLDT group’s wide range of communications solutions, access to online content and teacher training.

Orlino challenged the Cavite school heads to avail of the many benefits that partner schools enjoy: computer and web technology trainings, leadership trainings for school heads, free website hosting services, and the privilege to join various contests and activities.

The Smart Schools Program is being implemented through the Philippine Business for Social Progress, with the support of the Department of Education and the Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP).
