DLSU-D ties up with Shimizu

Another innovation took place when De La Salle University Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) established academic-industry linkage with Shimizu Corp. (Shimizu) as the latter opens its doors for the first time in accommodating Filipino on-the-job trainees for its Singapore office. Shimizu (Singapore office), one of the leading architectural, engineering, and general contracting firms, agreed to be a training ground of selected students from DLSU-D’s College of engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT). Student trainees will be given the chance to hone skills integral for their future career in their 350-hour practicum exposure in Shimizu. Shimizu will shoulder the airfare, board, and lodging of the chosen CEAT students. Dr. Myrna Ramos, vice chancellor for mission, external affairs, and development (VCMEAD) of DLSU-D, was invited to visit Shimizu’s Asia Pacific Regional office in Singapore to confer the future plans in supporting DLSU-D’s on-the-job training for students.

Test data use helps increase student achievement

Dr. Edie Holcomb addressed school administrators and teachers who attended the National Conference and Workshops organized by the Center for Educational Measurement, Inc. (CEM) held recently at the Isla Ballroom of the Edsa Shangri-La, Manila. Drawing on her rich experience on improving student achievement, she emphasized how the use of test data can guide school administrators and teachers on their school improvement planning and institutional decision-making in order to increase student achievement.
