UP Manila OrCom: 30 and #trending

MANILA, Philippines - The Organizational Communication (OrCom) degree program of the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila will be celebrating its 30th anniversary on September 26.

Bearing the theme “30 and #Trending: Celebrating OrCom’s Strategic Role in an Era of Communication Convergence,” the celebration would include #OrComTrivia: an exhibit of the thirty trivia about the program. A career talk or #OrComTalks would be given by some of the #OrComTalks, a career talk by some of the program’s most successful alumni and an alumni homecoming party, #OrComToast, will be held at the Bayleaf Hotel in Intramuros, Manila.

Founded by former UP Manila College of arts and Sciences Dean Dr. Angela Sarile, OrCom “aims to provide a holistic perspective of organizational dynamics in the modern century by focusing on organization-related communication skills.”

OrCom majors are trained in interpersonal and intercultural communication, technical writing, speech, audiovisual communication, linguistics, research and management.

Stated in the UP Manila OrCom website, “The whole BA OrCom program should have prepared them to assume junior-level managerial position in the corporate communication department of any organization.”

The UP Organizational Communication Alumni Association, Inc. (UPOCAAI) was recently formed in April 11. The association aims to collaborate with OrCom students and faculty to “present a holistic perspective of organizational dynamics in the modern century by focusing on organizational-related communication skills (and) to serve as a meaningful medium through which the alumni can collectively channel their resources and participate in the promotion of the program in the country.”

The OrCom event is co-presented by Chery Motors Pasig and sponsored by Unilab, Citibank, iProspect, and Summit Media. For details, please log on to www.upmanilaorcom.org or like the UP Manila Orcom page on Facebook for more details.
