DepEd: 117 schools hit by Glenda resume classes
MANILA, Philippines - With the exemption of a few schools conducting clearing operations, the Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday reported all 117 school divisions affected by Typhoon Glenda have resumed classes and operations.
DepEd schools are implementing interventions to address the temporary displacement of classes due to damaged classrooms.
Th intervention includes provisions of temporary learning spaces, merging of classes and other measures that have been proven effective in addressing problems in emergencies.
DepEd has directed the school heads to submit an initial school damage report.
The public was also encouraged to participate in reporting school damage through the use of #SchoolPatrolPH in different social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter.
Through this online initiative, the public has reported a total of 35 schools with damages caused by the typhoon.
DepEd continues to urge the public to report school damage by sending photos and other relevant information to DepEd’s official Twitter Account,@DepEd_PH, using the hashtag: #SchoolPatrolPH, or via email at [email protected].
