Taguig to live stream public high schools' prom nights

MANILA, Philippines - Parents and friends of public high school students in Taguig City can watch the junior and senior proms over the web through live video streaming.

Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano said the livestreaming of the junior and senior proms, which is now on its third year, aims to provide families and friends of the students - specially those abroad - an opportunity to watch the events as they unfold.

Cayetano said the livestreaming of the prom nights was made possible by the local government’s “e-Prom” program.

“Once again, we are making this event more special by allowing those far away or abroad to view how their loved ones will spend this special night. It was a very huge success for the first two years of implementation, and we’re hoping this year would be better,” said Mayor Cayetano.

The live stream of the prom can be viewed at the Taguig City’s official Facebook page, “I Love Taguig” (www.facebook.com/taguigcity). A social media has to “Like” the page to be able to view the proms being livestreamed.

To this date, Taguig City is the only local government unit in Metro Manila offering livestreaming of proms in the city’s public high schools.

Cayetano added that proms in the various city high schools, which are held in February, are hosted for free by the city government.

“JS Proms are very special for high school students; it is a chance to enjoy and have a break from the stressful and busy high school life,” Cayetano said.
