DepEd sets up online greeting board for Nat'l Teachers' Month

MANILA, Philippines - Students can now greet their teachers online through a virtual blackboard created by the Department of Education (DepEd) for the celebration of National Teachers' Month.

With the theme 'My teacher, my hero,' the National Teachers' Month will run from Sept. 5 to Oct. 5.

With the help of Think Sumo Creative Media, DepEd set up http://myteachermyhero.ph/, where students and alumni can fill up a form with special message for their teachers.

The greetings can be viewed by clicking the Virtual Blackboard tab on the website.

Last Sept. 11, DepEd also awarded 10 teachers during the 2013 Metrobank Search for Outstanding Teachers.

The 10 teacher awardees are Fely A. Batiloy, Dr. Mitchel V. Rodriguez, Cherry G. Vinluan, Rodel C. Sampang, Dominique J. Maquiran, Dr. Maria Teresa M. Bautista, Marcelo T. Otinguey, Maria Lorna L. Garnace, Dr. Alfredo C. Robles, Jr., and Dr. Emilyn Q. Espiritu.

The awardees were selected from a pool of 367 nominees, DepEd said.
