PNP eyes link in Pangasinan, Cebu child exploitation cases

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police ordered the PNP regional intelligence units to intensify cross-jurisdictional monitoring and investigation of potential links among child exploitation cases in Pangasinan and Cebu to dismantle localized and foreign-led abuse syndicates.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. directed field offices to determine whether the reported cases in the provinces involve common perpetrators or organized networks exploiting provincial boundaries to evade law enforcement.
Nartatez emphasized that the crackdown on online sexual abuse and exploitation of children as well as child trafficking aligns with the directives of President Marcos and Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla to strengthen child protection frameworks and prosecute offenders.
“Criminal networks must not be allowed to exploit provincial boundaries to evade justice. By linking our regional intelligence, we are dismantling these syndicates from the roots up and ensuring that no corner of this country serves as a safe haven for those who prey on our children,” Nartatez said in a statement.
In Pangasinan, authorities launched an investigation into alleged child exploitation activities outside Urdaneta City.
In Cebu, the PNP arrested a Frenchman for alleged sexual offenses committed against minors.
Nartatez warned that the PNP would pursue both local operators and foreigners involved in exploiting Filipino minors.
He added that Philippine authorities are actively coordinating with international law enforcement partners to track suspects operating across borders.
“Child exploitation is a transnational crime that demands an unyielding, unified response. Whether these perpetrators operate within our provinces or cross international borders, our reach is long, our partnerships are firm and we will hunt down every single individual who attempts to violate the dignity of our youth,” Nartatez said.
