MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police in Central Luzon recorded no major incident during the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, which drew thousands of visitors to cemeteries and memorial parks.

Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez, Central Luzon police director, said 13,497 police personnel, augmentation forces and force multipliers were deployed to secure 688 cemeteries, memorial parks and columbaria in the region.

Police assistance desks were set up in strategic areas, including along major roads, transport terminals and expressways to assist motorists and travelers.

Mendez credited the peaceful observance of Undas to police readiness and the cooperation of local governments, partner agencies and the public.

He said security operations would continue until today to cover the return of travelers, warning police commanders against becoming complacent following the generally peaceful observance.
