MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos departs for Singapore today for a three-day working visit that Malacañang says is aimed at strengthening cooperation in key areas and affirming the importance of regional stability.

Marcos is expected to meet with Singapre Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and interact with investors during the working visit, which ends on July 16.

The Singapore visit is Marcos’ 45th overseas trip since assuming the presidency in 2022.

“This is part of the efforts of the government to promote stronger bilateral relations between the Philippines and Singapore, the next chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations next year,” Palace press officer Claire Castro said at a media briefing yesterday.

Wong had sought a face-to-face meeting with Marcos, according to a Palace source.

Castro said Marcos, in paying a courtesy call on Wong, aims to expand cooperation in trade and investment, as well as in environment and health and in regional and global development.

Marcos also aims to reaffirm with Wong the two countries’ commitment to ASEAN centrality and regional stability.

The President will also engage with business leaders during the Milken Institute’s private roundtable discussion at the Philippine embassy.

First Lady Liza Marcos will join the working visit and is scheduled to deliver a message during the Global Economic Cooperation East Summit. Castro said the First Lady was invited to the event by the Future Economic Cooperation Council, an India-based economic platform that gathers business and government leaders to pursue global strategic economic cooperation.
