FiberXers pummel Giant Risers for strong start

MANILA, Philippines -- The Converge FiberXers feasted on the import-less Titan Ultra Giant Risers, securing an explosive debut in the PBA Governor’s Cup with a 105-74 victory Sunday evening at the Ynares Center in Montalban.
Converge led by 24 points in the first half and did not let up as they breezed through to their win, which sent the Giant Risers to their second straight loss in the import-laden conference.
Jalen Hudson carried the offense for the FiberXers with 20 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. Archie Concepcion added 16 markers off the bench.
Converge led by just four, 13-9, in the early stages of the game. The FiberXers, then, blasted off and broke the game wide open, taking a 50-26 lead at the half as Titan could not buy a basket.
The cushion was too big of a deficit to erase for the Giant Risers, as the lead ballooned to 36 points, 105-69, after five straight points by Ladis Lepalam.
Justin Arana imposed his will inside with 14 points and five rebounds, to go with three assists. Mikey Williams added 13 markers.
Fran Yu and Bryan Sajonia had 14 points each for Titan. King Caralipio added 10 for the All-Filipino Giant Risers, whose import James Milton is still yet to suit up this conference.
