The abbreviation of the Philippines is no longer "RP" but "PH" or "PHL'' in ac-cordance with international rule. OK, no problem. Did you know that there are some Americans who still use "PI" (Philippine Islands) to refer to the Philippines?

But "PI" should be respected. Especially if you got wealth stashed in a bank car-rying those initials. Hehe.

Some losers in the last barangay election are still taking their defeat with a heavy heart. I mean heavy hurt. They feel hurt, losing their sense of humor.

Like this friend of mine. I said to him: "Better to have tried and lost than never to have tried at all." He looked at me and said, sounding displeased...

"Who told you that? It's better to have tried and won ... Period." I understand his feelings. He lost the barangay captainship to a PUJ driver. And he's a lawyer.

We are now experiencing double whammies. I mean two brownouts a day, two hours per day. "I have no complaint," says Buddy, a friend in Banawa. "Who am I to complain? They don't even listen to Leo and Bobby ... Ako na lang?"

Correction, Buddy. They do listen to Leo (Lastimosa) and Bobby (Nalzaro), liter-ally, but acting on what they hear every morning (brownout or none) is another story.

Congratulations to my neighbor and friend Joe Navarro for winning back his throne as barangay captain of Punta Princesa ... Also to my fellow worker in this newspa-per Garry Lao for winning the kagawad race in barangay Tejero at the top of the list. The first time he ran, he landed on 7th place. The captainship, Gar, is now getting within clearer view.
