GOOD RIDDANCE. New Yorkers celebrated Good Riddance Day shortly before last New Year’s Eve. Thousands gathered at the famous Times Square where they tore down or shredded newspaper front pages carrying bad news about events that happened in 2009. At least two Cebuanos living in New York took part in the celebration. They tore down newspaper pages about the natural calamities that hit RP in 2009. One of them told The Ear in an e-mail: “Amo tong gihimo sa panghinaut nga no calamity of such kind will happen in 2010.”
ECONOMIC MELTDOWN. Many of the New Yorkers shredded newspaper pages on which were printed news about the economic meltdown that caused sufferings to millions. “Never again,” one American was heard saying as he tore down several pages of the New York Times with economic crisis stories.
