TAXI TERROR. A young Cebuana who works in Manila told an Ear informer that she took a taxi from the Mactan airport late afternoon recently. The cabbie refused to use the meter and asked for P400. His reason was that he already gave a tip to the airport police. The cabbie told the young woman, “Kaming mga taxi drivers diri sa Cebu ang magbuot kung pila ng among kolektahon.”
DUMPED IN THE DARK. The young woman didn’t see any telephone number or driver’s ID inside the taxicab. The driver also refused directions from the young passenger. When the young woman became upset, the cabbie even challenged her to report him to the LTO saying, “Sumbong lang sa LTO. Anad na mi ana ‘Day.” When the woman told the cabbie, “Sagdi lang kuya, lahi man akong sumbongan,” the driver forced the woman to get out of the cab in a dark, isolated place in Mandaue. The young woman later said that she tried calling the contact number given by the driver but it was a wrong number.
