BETTING BALIKBAYANS. The Ear heard that the fight of Manny Pacquiao against David Diaz for the lightweight title was a “sure bet.” So much so that a balikbayan from California, USA said he had difficulty getting people to bet against the people’s champion.
The balikbayan who is here in Cebu for a vacation called up his friends in the US who have been critical of the Filipino boxer in the past, but this time around his “anti-Manny” friends wouldn’t take his bet.
He said, “Ang mga Pinoy kong amigo, dili mo pusta against ni Pacquiao. Siguro na kuno nga daog.”
MISERABLE MEXICANS. The balikbayan said only his Mexican co-workers would take him on. “Lagot man gyud na sila ni Pacquiao kay gihurot man og kulata ilang mga kababayan.” Sure enough, when Manny Pacquiao won against David Diaz on the 9th round, the balikbayan rejoiced and said, “Daan pa lagi. Daog gyud si Pacquiao. Akong mga amigong Mexicano, puwerteng guola. Minghoy ang mga abaga. Hehe!”
