Punning the Chinese New Year greetings

Last Sunday, Chinese New Year, was an occasion for friends greeting each other the Chinese way: Kung Hei Fat Choi! And making fun/pun out of these greetings by some well-meaning texters!
* * *
Let me quote some of these funny/punny greetings: "Pacquiaowin mo sana ang lahat na suwerteng darating ngayong Chinese New Year. Kung Hei Pak Yao!
* * *
Another: "May you have the wisdom of Confucius, the leadership of Mao Tse Tung, the vision of Chou En Lai, the wit of Deng Siao Ping, and the bank account of Lucio Tan, Henry Sy and John Gokongwei. Kung Hei Fat Choi!"
* * *
Another: "May this Lunar New Year bring food to every less fortunate Pinoy's table. Kung Hei Chop Suey!"
* * *
And still another: "This Year of the Dog, let's not have only tikoy on the table but also other food. Kung Hei Bat Choy!"

Levity aside now, I just read a news story saying that two policemen in Thailand have been dumped in prison after having been found guilty of planting evidence on a suspected drug pusher. Such offense, which carries a heavy punishment in Thailand, is also being committed by some cops in our country.

Say, what ever happened to the bill filed in Congress which makes it a serious crime for cops to plant evidence on a suspect nabbed by these cops? If it has been passed and is now a law, implement it. If not then pass it. We need such a law to save some innocent suspects from unscrupulous police officers.

During the victory parade for Manny Pacquiao in Metro Manila the float carrying the champion passed by the two major tv networks. At ABS-CBN a tv host-comedian mounted the float and thrust the mike onto the mouth of Manny telling him to shout, "Wowowee!" (The name of the tv show.) At the compound of GMA-7 a well-known personality from the network gave Manny a Kapuso jacket and tried to make the champ wear it but the champ refused. Commenting on these incidents, Banat News entertainment editor Ryan Mark said: "Ilang gihimo si Manny nga murag robot. Tawo si Manny uy, dili robot!" Well put, Ryan!
