Going the extra mile is always worth it when the food is worth it. Mrs. Saldo’s Private Dining in Cavite is one of those places people take the extra mile to go to. Chef Rhea Rizzo’s Mrs. Saldo’s offered a degustation menu but she is expanding her culinary world with the debut of Little Miss Saldo’s, a new à la carte space that serves up bold, freeform comfort food drawn from French, New American, and Asian influences.

An offshoot of the celebrated Mrs. Saldo’s, known for its globally-inspired tasting menus, Little Miss Saldo’s focuses on personal expression, emotional connection, and making food without compromising quality, all in a casual yet thoughtfully designed space. Rhea’s food is based on comfort and creativity and she says, “I’ve always felt boxed in trying to define a specific cuisine.”

The chef and owner of Mrs. Saldo’s and Little Miss Saldo’s adds, “With Little Miss Saldo’s, I can cook the food I love without limits. Yes, it’s a bit of mishmash, but at the heart of it, it’s all comfort food. That’s what ties it all together.”

Diners can expect standout dishes like duck confit with potato dauphinoise and orange demi-glace, Lamb Ribs with Mussaman curry, mahi-mahi with cauliflower puree and pilpil Sauce, and Halibut with Chee Choo curry. There is also an all-day brunch menu celebrating casual, early-morning indulgence.

Unlike the structured, narrative-driven tasting menus at Mrs. Saldo’s, Little Miss Saldo’s is designed for spontaneity.

Rhea says, “It’s a format that’s like contemporary dance. Free from the rigidity of classical ballet. Not as square or like a box, but still as beautiful in its freeform.”

The space, inspired by the aesthetics of Napa, Sonoma, and the Hudson Valley in the US, feels earthy, artisanal, and unpretentious. Just last month, a built-in retail corner started showcasing baked goods and artisanal products, blurring the line between restaurant and lifestyle boutique.

Opening Little Miss Saldo’s marks a creative shift for Rhea. It’s a chance to explore a wider variety of culinary ideas and show a more playful, unrestricted approach to cooking. “This was the outcome of wanting something that felt free, but still grounded in the food I love,” she concludes

Do check out the bakery and coffee shop they put up or better yet, spend the night there! Accommodations include two bedrooms that will comfortably fit five to six people. Make the most out of a weekend with a great dinner and wake up to an equally good brunch or lunch! Or just do what I do, head there for a memorable meal and feel great realizing the long drive was worth it.
