Filipino swims across Bohol Sea to promote clean seas, beaches
MANILA, Philippines - "Pinoy Aquaman" has done it again.
After conquering the treacherous seas of Cebu, Surigao del Norte, Cagayan and California to promote protection of the marine environment, triathlete-lawyer Ingemar Macarine has taken on the Bohol Sea “to promote tourism in Baclayon and for clean seas & beaches.”
According to the Surigao-born varsity swimmer, he covered Bohol Sea's total distance of 15.15 kilometers in five hours and 59 minutes.

"This is the toughest swim to date because of very strong current, which changed direction 14 times, and big waves brought about by the Northeast Monsoon," he said on his Facebook page.

According to reports, Macarine is the first person to swim nonstop across the 12.8-km Surigao Channel, the 7-km Babuyan Channel and the 10.5-km Hinatuan Passage. He was supposed to take on the Surigao Strait from San Ricardo, Southern Leyte to Surigao City but stopped because of the strong currents.
