MANILA, Philippines — Two landing craft heavy vessels recently arrived in the Philippines this week after they were turned over by the Royal Australian Navy.

The arrival ceremony for the new Balikpapan-class BRP Ivatan (AT-298) and BRP Batak (AT-299) was presided by Vice Adm. Jesus Millan, the Navy's flag officer in command, and Adm. Leopoldo Alano, the commander of the Philippine Fleet.

"The capability we are very proud to welcome today is described as extremely versatile vessels, capable of moving large amounts of cargo, personnel and equipment," Alano said.
