'Racially diverse' emojis are finally coming
MANILA, Philippines - Emojis are pictograms that have become popular in social media. Users all around the globe have been using these to express whatever their emotions are. But with the current standard color of emoji, some users are requesting for different emoji palates to reflect racial diversity.
To put this issue into rest, Unicode Consortium, the nonprofit organization that sets the standards for these pictograms finally worked on expanding the skin color options for emojis.
According to AP, the organization is planning to add five new skin colors, including black.

In addition to that, they will allow altering the colors of the preexisting emojis, by doing a long-press on their favorite face to bring up a set of skin-tone options.
