Alixandra Caole Vila - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - One of the best homegrown café restaurants in Baguio City will officially be out of business soon. Star Café, a classic Chinese restaurant famous for its Star Rice and Joey Rufino's personalized service is shutting its doors on July 18, as reported by the Baguio Midland Courier.

Since Mr. Rufino died last December 18, his widow, Donna Rufino admits that she can no longer keep the business running at her age.

Goo Chin started Star Café in 1940. Located along Session Road, this Café has captured the heart of the foodies not only by serving budget-friendly and appetizing dishes, but according to Donna Rufino herself, by treating every customer equally and humbly as well.

“We maintained a natural connection with our customers, hence the same tradition lives on,” she explained.

Aside from being a classic Chinese restaurant, Star Café also doubles as a bakeshop. For those who have not eaten yet at Star Café, you have less than a month to do so. Let us all indulge ourselves with the classic menu of Star Cafe, which may just convince you more to dine in this café restaurant (photos by margauxlicious.blogspot.com):
