Fil-Ams set Guinness record for Tinikling dance

Camille Diola - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Almost 400 people joined to bring the Philippines' folk dance Tinikling to the world stage with a Guinness record in Arlingyon, Texas late Saturday.

According to the Tyler Morning Telegraph, the Filipino-American Association of East Texas organized the event on turf of the AT&T Stadium.

Officials of the Guinness World Records only required 250 people to dance for at least five minutes, but the Fil-Am community brought together about 360 people to perform the native dance.

The group also made use of the performance as a fund-raiser for an upcoming center for children with disabilities in Dasmariñas, Cavite handled by the De La Salle University.

In 2012, the Fil-Am community from East Texas attempted a Guinness Record for most egg rolls.
