MANILA, Philippines – Several of the PBA players are looking forward to the Halloween weekend to spend time with their families in paying respect to departed relatives.
San Mig Coffee superstars James Yap and Marc Pingris are enjoying the much deserved two-week break before the Mixers open training camp on Nov. 11 or exactly one week before the new season tips off.
Yap recently launched his new business venture Mototechnik, which offers the Italian brand Vespa scooters, and celebrated the birthday of his Italian girlfriend over the weekend.
Pingris, meanwhile, drove to his hometown in Pozzorubio, Pangasinan for a much-deserved vacation with his mother and relatives last Saturday and is scheduled to return to Manila on Tuesday.
Both popular cagers will spend the coming Halloween weekend with their respective families.
“Uuwi muna ako siguro sa Escalante at dun i-spend ang undas,†Yap told Philstar.com after the Mixers wrap up the Governors’ Cup championship last Friday.
Yap also added that he’ll go home to pay respect to his aunt, who passed away during the finals.
Pingris, on the other hand, will spend time with his wife Danica and their two kids with the Sotto clan.
“Ako naman kasama ko lang wife ko and kids at sina Daddy [Vic Sotto] sa Alabang,†said Pingris, who also shared he once sold left over candles in cemeteries during Halloween in his younger years to help his single mother.
Beau Belga, meanwhile, also made this time of the year as a source of income when he was still younger by repainting tombs in cemeteries.
Belga, who will sign his new three-year deal with Rain or Shine on Tuesday, said he is planning to spend the Halloween break with his family and pay respect to their deceased relatives both in Bicol and in Manila.
“Pumupunta lang kami sa may kamag-anak na namatay,†Belga told Philstar.com. “May sa probinsya (Bicol) at Manila.â€
