Want to become a beauty queen? Drink milk
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – For those who want to follow in the footsteps of beauty queens such as Shamcey Supsup and Venus Raj, Precious Lara Quigaman, herself a beauty title holder, has a word of advice: drink milk.
Quigaman, who won the Miss International beauty contest held in Japan in 2005, told pupils at the Tuguegarao West Elementary School in Cagayan to religiously take glasses of milk every day because this habit had helped her become a beauty queen.
Quigaman was in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan’s capital, last Friday as part of Nestle Philippines’ “Laki sa Gatas” caravan that advocates nutrition education to eradicate malnutrition, especially among children in the country.
Quigaman related how she transformed from what she described as an “ugly-looking slender girl” into a beauty titlist, by religiously drinking milk as well as taking nutritious meals on time.
She said milk not only enhances one’s beauty but also sharpens the intellect.
Quigaman said by drinking milk while they are still young, children will be able to sharpen their potentials not only as beauty queens but in other endeavors.
“I look forward to inspiring kids and their mothers with my personal experiences when I was growing up. Good nutrition helped me get to where I am now,” said Quigaman.
But Quigaman stressed that parents play the most important part in honing children’s minds and potentials “because they are in the best position to influence the course of their children’s lives.”
“We make parents realize how important it is to support kids physically and emotionally by providing them nutritious and affordable food choices to keep their children healthy and help them perform better in school,” she said.
