Deadbeat using fake bills hunted

- Perseus Echeminada -

This is giving new meaning to the word “deadbeat.”

The Quezon City Police District is hunting down a man who gave counterfeit P1,000 bills to settle the P80,000 tab for the funeral service for his wife.

Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula, Quezon City police chief, said suspect Larry Nocom used 80 pieces of fake P1,000 bills to pay for the funeral expenses of his dead wife Mercy Cruz at the Arlington Funeral Homes along Araneta Ave.

Police investigators said the suspect went to the cashier of the funeral parlor at about 12 noon last Saturday to settle the bill for the funeral services of his wife that amounted to P 80,000.

After paying the bill the suspect immediately took the remains of his wife and disappeared. It was too late when the funeral parlor’s cashier found out that the bills Nocom paid were fake.

Gatdula warned the public to be wary of accepting P1,000 bills and to report to the nearest police station any person who passes out counterfeit money.
