MANILA, Philippines — The head of the Philippine National Police Academy is now the No. 4 man in the PNP, as Lt. Gen. Bernard Banac, deputy chief for administration, reaches the mandatory retirement age of 56 today.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. designated PNPA director Maj. Gen. Redrico Maranan as chief of the directorial staff, the fourth highest ranked post in the police force, replacing Banac.
In his new post, Maranan supervises and coordinates the work of the PNP’s directorial staff in implementing the policies, plans and directives of the police chief. He once served as the PNP spokesman. He also became chief of the Quezon City Police District, Central Luzon police and Western Visayas police.
Replacing Maranan as PNPA director is Brig. Gen. Erickson Dilag, who is from the Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management or DICTM.
Lt. Gen. Wilson Joseph Lopez is the new deputy chief for administration while Lt. Gen. Neri Vincent Ignacio was appointed deputy chief for operations.
Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) head Brig. Gen. Benigno Guzman was appointed as director for Davao, replacing Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete who was reassigned to the DICTM.
From the Directorate for Logistics, Brig. Gen. Froilan Navarroza was reassigned to the Directorate for Comptrollership while Col. Ranie Hachuela is the new director of the PSPG.
The new assignments took effect yesterday.
