MANILA, Philippines —   Sen. Raffy Tulfo has filed a resolution seeking to review safety measures and monitoring systems for Filipino seafarers in high-risk maritime areas.

In Senate Resolution 393, Tulfo cited incidents in the Persian Gulf and surrounding regions.

Seven Filipino seafarers were injured after a drone struck MV CMA CGM San Antonio near the Strait of Hormuz on May 6.

Thirty-eight Filipino crew members of MV Hondius remain uninfected with hantavirus, the Department of Migrant Workers said earlier.

Tulfo said there is an urgent need to assess coordination and compliance mechanisms, as well as the effectiveness of monitoring systems for Filipino sailors operating under the Magna Carta of Seafarers.
