Rhodina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — As part of a campaign to prevent the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus, a mural will be painted outside the Bureau of Quarantine in Port Area, Manila.

BOQ Director Roberto Salvador said an artist from Art Camp Philippines has been commissioned for the mural, which will “raise people’s HIV awareness.”

The project is being undertaken by the BOQ in partnership with the Philippine National AIDS Council.

Up to 4,633 newly diagnosed cases of HIV have been recorded from January to March, based on Department of Health data.

A total of 168,079 HIV cases have been reported to the HIV/AIDS and ART Registry of the Philippines since 1984.
