5.1 quake jolts Cebu, generates aftershocks

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.1 earthquake jolted several areas in Cebu on Monday afternoon, generating aftershocks that were felt until yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake occurred at 3:22 p.m. with its epicenter located approximately 10 kilometers southeast of Bogo City.
The temblor was felt at Intensity 5 in Bogo, Bantayan, Daanbantayan, Medellin, San Remigio, Santa Fe, Tabogon and Tabuelan.
Intensity 4 was felt in Asturias, Borbon, Carmen, Catmon, Danao, Liloan, Madridejos, San Francisco, Sogod and Tuburan in Cebu as well as in Albuera, Hilongos, Isabel, Merida, Ormoc, Tabango and Villaba in Leyte.
Intensity 3 was felt in several areas in Bohol, Cebu, Leyte, Negros Island and Southern Leyte.
Intensity 2 was felt in other areas in Cebu as well as in Biliran, Bohol, Capiz, Iloilo and Negros Occidental as well as in Leyte and Southern Leyte
As of 8 a.m. yesterday, 99 aftershocks ranging from magnitudes 1 to 5.8 have been recorded.
