Special non-working days declared in 6 areas

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared special non-working days in six areas to allow residents to participate in the celebration of local festivals and anniversaries next month.

March 10 was declared a special non-working day in Tanauan, Batangas under Proclamation 1164 for the celebration of Tanauan’s 25th cityhood anniversary.

The same day was declared a holiday in Norala, South Cotabato through Proclamation 1165 for the commemoration of the town’s founding anniversary.

Proclamation 1166 declared March 13 a non-working day in Bauko, Mountain Province for the Begnas di Bauko Festival, a thanksgiving celebration for a bountiful harvest in honor of the residents’ ancestors and their “supreme being.”

Residents in Aguilar, Pangasinan will observe a special non-working holiday on March 16 to celebrate the Ansakket Festival as provided under Proclamation 1168.

The festival is an expression of gratitude to God for a good harvest. It also aims to promote the town’s popular delicacy, ansakket, or  glutinous rice cake.

Proclamation 1167 declared March 18 a special non- working day in Masbate to mark the province’s 125th founding anniversary.

March 20 is a special non- working day in San Fernando, La Union for the city’s founding anniversary as provided under Proclamation 1162.
