Anti-drug cops nabbed for ‘robbery raid’ in Pasig

MANILA, Philippines — Eight anti-narcotics police officers and a civilian were arrested after they allegedly illegally ransacked the house of a drug suspect in Pasig City on Friday.
National Capital Region Police Office director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin has ordered the filing of criminal and administrative cases against the police officers who are assigned with the Eastern Police District’s drug enforcement unit.
The officers and their civilian cohort reportedly forced their way into a house in Barangay Palatiw at around 2:05 p.m.
Aberin said the officers, a captain and seven police non-commissioned officers, told the occupants of the house they were looking for a drug personality.
They took some personal belongings of the residents of the house. A report over dzRH said they seized jewelry worth P500,000.
Officers from the Pasig police station responded to the scene and confronted the anti-narcotics operatives, who failed to present documents to back their supposed anti-illegal drug operation.
The operatives were disarmed of their service firearms and were placed under arrest together with their civilian accomplice.
Police are preparing robbery complaints against the suspects.
“No one is above the law and no one is allowed to abuse their authority. We will make sure they will answer for their violation,” Aberin said in a statement.
