11 hurt in Pangasinan carnival ride collapse

SAN JACINTO, Pangasinan , Philippines — Eleven people, including nine children, were injured after the Viking pirate ship they were on collapsed past 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve in Barangay San Guillermo here.

According to reports from the Police Regional Office 1, the ride was set up in an amusement park at the town plaza.

Investigators said the middle portion of the pirate ship broke after hitting the ground.

Aside from the nine children, police said a 37-year-old man and a 19-year-old girl suffered injuries in different parts of the body.

They were rushed to the Manaoag Community Hospital for treatment.
