MANILA, Philippines — Fishermen and coastal villages in Ilocos Norte and Cagayan have been advised to be wary of falling objects from a rocket that will be launched from China tonight.

Citing reports from the Philippine Space Agency, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said that the Long March 7A rocket would take off from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan between 8:12 and 9:34 pm.

The PCG said that parts of the rocket were projected to fall within identified drop zones in Burgos, Ilocos Norte and Dalupiri Island, Cagayan.

Some debris may also fall in the waters off Santa Ana in Cagayan and Camiguin Norte in Babuyan Islands.

The PCG-District North Eastern Luzon suspended maritime movement within and around the drop zones.

Residents were advised to refrain from coming near or touching the debris as this may contain toxic chemicals like remnants of rocket fuel.

“Report any floating object or suspicious materials to the nearest Coast Guard unit for proper handling,” the PCG-District North Eastern Luzon said.
