Fire leaves 85 families homeless

MANILA, Philippines — Over 85 families were left homeless after a fire struck a shanty community in Quezon City yesterday.
The fire destroyed several shanties along Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa, arson probers said.
A man was treated by responders after he suffered bruises.
Arson investigators said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which reached the third alarm.
Firefighters doused the fire at 8:28 a.m., according to the Bureau of Fire Protection’s National Capital Region field unit.
Fifty fire trucks responded.
The displaced residents are taking shelter at an evacuation center. They received relief goods from the city government.
