MANILA, Philippines — More than 6000 passengers have been stranded due to the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said. 

According to the PCG, there are a total of 6,351 stranded passengers and drivers across 101 ports in the country. 

Among the stranded passengers are 66 vessels and 22 motorbancas. 

There are also 3,238 rolling cargoes stranded. 

Meanwhile, 475 vessels and 136 motorbancas are taking shelter. 

Affected regions where passengers were stranded are the following:

  • Central Luzon
  • Central Visayas
  • Bicol
  • Northeastern Mindanao
  • Western Visayas
  • Southern Visayas
  • Eastern Visayas
  • Southwestern Mindanao
  • Southern Tagalog
  • Northern Mindanao

As of 5 p.m., Uwan is estimated to be at 110 kilometers north of Daet, Camarines Norte, or 150 kilometers east-northeast of Infanta, Quezon.

It has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts of up to 230 kph. It is moving west-northwest at 30 kph.
