Walang Pasok: Class, gov't work suspensions for Nov. 10-11 due to 'Uwan'

MANILA, Philippines (First published on Nov. 8, 2025, 5:15 p.m.) — The Office of the President has announced the suspension of classes and government work in several regions on Monday, November 10, due to Super Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong), which is expected to bring major impacts across the country.
In Memorandum Circular No. 106, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin approved the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s recommendation to suspend classes and government work in the following regions on November 10:
- National Capital Region
- Cordillera Administrative Region
- Region I (Ilocos Region)
- Region II (Cagayan Valley)
- Region III (Central Luzon)
- Region IV-A (CALABARZON)
- Region IV-B (MIMAROPA)
- Region V (Bicol Region)
- Region VIII (Eastern Visayas)
The Palace also suspended all classes, both public and private, on November 10 and 11 in the following regions:
- National Capital Region
- Cordillera Administrative Region
- Region I (Ilocos Region)
- Region II (Cagayan Valley)
- Region III (Central Luzon)
- Region IV-A (CALABARZON)
- Region IV-B (MIMAROPA)
- Region V (Bicol Region)
- Region VI (Western Visayas)
- Region VII (Central Visayas)
- Region VIII (Eastern Visayas)
- Negros Island Region
Agencies responsible for essential services, including emergency response and disaster preparedness, are required to remain operational despite the suspension.
"To further ensure continuity of essential government functions, all other government agencies in the aforementioned Regions may implement alternate work arrangements, as may be necessary, subject to applicable laws, rules and regulations," the order read.
"The localized cancellation or suspension of classes and/or work in government offices in other regions may be implemented by their respective Local Chief Executives, pursuant to relevant laws, rules and regulations," it added.
Private companies and offices may decide on work suspensions at the discretion of their management, the Palace said.
As of 5 a.m. on Sunday, Uwan has further intensified into a super typhoon, battering Catanduanes and nearby areas with life-threatening winds and coastal flooding, as PAGASA raised the highest wind signal over parts of Luzon.
The super typhoon is moving west-northwest and may pass near Catanduanes on Sunday morning, with possible landfall over Aurora tonight or early Monday.
