Courts suspend work due to 'Opong'

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court and several courts across the country have suspended their work on Friday, September 26, due to Severe Tropical Storm “Opong.”
In an advisory on Thursday, September 25, the Supreme Court said that work in the high court, Court of Appeals (except in Cagayan de Oro), is suspended.
The first and second-level courts in some areas are suspended.
Despite the suspension, the Supreme Court ordered the courts to have enough personnel to “have sufficient staff to act on urgent requests for bail, orders of release, writs of habeas corpus, and similar urgent reliefs.”
The following areas are where the work of the first and second level courts is suspended:
- Metro Manila
- Aklan
- Albay
- Antique
- Batangas
- Bataan
- Biliran
- Camarines Norte
- Camarines Sur
- Capiz
- Cavite
- Catanduanes
- Guimaras
- Iloilo
- Laguna
- Leyte
- Marinduque
- Negros Occidental
- Oriental Mindoro
- Eastern Samar
- Northern Samar
- Samar
- Masbate
- Rizal
- Romblon
- Sorsogon
- Quezon
Friday is also considered a holiday for reckoning, filing and reglementary periods.
