MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Palawan rescued 14 fishermen off Rio Tuba in Bataraza last week.

In a Facebook post, the PCG-Palawan said it received a call for help after the F/B C-Jay experienced transmission failure on Aug. 21.

A search and rescue team spotted the distressed fishing boat after about two hours of search.

Boat captain Mark Calvin Rojas told rescuers that they were on their way to Puerto Princesa City when they encountered the transmission problem, adding that big waves pushed their boat to the vicinity of Barangay Malis in Brooke’s Point.

The PCG towed the fishing boat to Saipudin Port in Bataraza, adding that all crew members were in good physical condition.
